Western Front Anzacs

The next 10 man platoon of Western Front WWI Anzacs are complete. The lads are marching off to the front. I had originally planned to take the heads off these figures and stick on bush hat or slouch hat heads but I could not find any that were suitable. Soapy does his Australian head pack but the short cut down brim does nothing for me. The other option would be to buy Anzacs from Brigade Games and cut their heads off and transfer them over but that gets a little bit expensive. Figures are based up for Warhammer Historicals The Great War. Figures are 28mm Great War Miniatures. Next unit on the painting table is the Assault Platoon.

Rob Broom

A lot of wargamers learnt today of the sad news of Games Workshop suddenly retrenching Warhammer Historical manager Rob Broom. And news the historical branch is being moved to Forge World. This has left me gutted. I won't type my true feelings towards GW because there would be a lot of swearing and cursing.

Rob Broom is the driving force behind Warhammer Historical. He was always available to answer questions. If you read this mate, good luck with Scarab Miniatures and I hope you start publishing rule books soon because I will be a customer. Better still, immigrate to Australia so I can have a game with you. The sun is shinning 98% of the time here.

Good luck.

Company of Heroes

Every so often a new love enters ones life. Company of Heroes is every wargamers dream PC game. Unfortunately a lot of my painting time has now been invested in freeing Europe from the Nazis. If you have not seen this game, get on u-tube and check out the trailers and game-play. One word "AWESOME".

Romano-British

Couple of more figures painted up. A musician and I don't know what the other bloke is meant to be, maybe a goat herder. He will do nicely on the rear rank as a filler. Figures are 28mm Gripping Beast.

Memoir 44 Mediterranean Theatre

My latest acquisition is the Mediterranean expansion pack for Memoir 44. I decided to buy this after hearing a review on the Meeples and Miniatures podcast. Neil described the British infantry as horrible, and I have to agree. The figures are in 8th Army desert uniform but it appears they are wearing American helmets. It's a bit poor but I guess the game is aimed at the general boardgame market. Fans of WWII history will also notice a horrible sight on the picture above. Hint AT weapon. Anyway, the rest of the pack looks good. Crusader tanks and 25pdrs are really well sculpted. Heaps of new desert terrain pieces and medals etc. New desert scenarios. I am looking forward to having a game. And at last, I have British figures to use with the original Memoir 44. It was just plain wrong using American Infantry in British scenarios.

Crossfire

I had a game of Crossfire today. Just a small game. Two Australian platoons advancing on a German platoon somewhere in Greece 1941. Crossfire is very brutal and not like any other miniature game I have played before. There is not much detail, very simple to understand, but enjoyable. Not for gamers who like details such as the combat modifiers for cross winds etc. The Australians took the objective very easily. Next time for balance I will face off equal sized forces. Game area size for this battle was 2ft x 2ft. A neat little game.

Jap Destroyers

My first painting effort of 2009. Six WWII Jap Destroyers painted up and sailing across the green fields of my pool table. Shiratsuyu, Shigue, Yugure, Ariake, Hatsuharu, and Wakaba. All ships are Navwar 1/3000 scale.
