Battlefield Academy
My latest wargaming interest is Battlefield Academy from Slitherine. What a great game. It's old school style I go-You go computer wargaming. Reminds me a lot of the old game Steel Panthers. Graphics are great. The best feature of this game is the play on line ability utilising the PBEM system. You link the game to the Slitherine website and away you go. Simple. Slitherine keep a ranking record of all players involved. I highly recommend this game and if anyone wants to issue me an online challenge I am more than happy to oblige.

Steel Panthers was certainly an old favourite of mine :)
Looks pretty cool Beccas, but wont it drag you away from the painting table?
Paul, is there a Pacific campaign? I loved Steel Panthers. Still have my copies, but they don't work on my pc.
Cheers,
Helen
Helen, Not an official one yet but when you register/link into the Slitherine website you can choose to download fan created Pacific campaigns. These computer geeks have created some nice stuff. The next official expansion is Blitzkrieg. You get Western Desert, Normandy and Bulge campaigns on the disk. The game plays exactly like Steel Panthers. You move, enemy auto reacts etc. Only difference is 1 tank = 1 tank whilst steel panthers was more of a Brigade level game.
Guido, this game is inspiring me to paint.
Glad you put this up Paul, as I've been looking at it for a while and will now take your recommendation as reason to get it after all...
I'm a big fan of the Comabt Mission series, so this should make a nice contrast.
Cheers mate,
Monty
Monty. This is way batter than Combat Missions. Let me know if you get a copy and I will challenge you to a game.
Will do, Paul - cheers mate.
Monty
Thanks Paul,
Please keep us posted on any new developments. I see it's still in its infancy and my love would be for the Pacific.
Cheers,
Helen
I had a go at the online version and have (finally) successfully defended my hill-fort from the Romans
I didn't have the stamina to proceed to the War of the Roses game as sleep called.
Is this game an extension from the above or a brand new thing in itself?
Theres no Romans in this game, unless you count the Italians?
WWII all the way.
I've played 8 on-line games now and got my butt kicked in every one of them.
I bought this game at the start of the year - if you are interested in a game please let me know
Set up a game Shelldrake. Your choice. What user name should I look for? Use password - blue
I will set something up this weekend... look for shelldrake as a user name (unless i can't use it, in which case I will let you know).
I will keep an eye out.
