I just got home from holidays in Esperance, Western Australia. A 9 hour drive from Perth City. A crazy farmer in Esperance built this 100% true scale replica of Stonehenge. All the stones were quarried and cut to shape, transported to the site and moved into place by big heavy cranes. You can walk in there and have a look around for the price of your sole, or about $50.00 a family. My wife and I are travelling to the UK next year to see the real thing so it was worth checking out.

That farmer is seriously hardcore :D looks like this version is based on it as first built. The real thing is obviously a bit less pristine ;) nice one, though Paul.
The real thing is an expensive waste of time, as you can't really get close to the stones and get a sense of scale. If you're travelling around a lot, or staying for a reasonable time, buy English Heritage membership - that will get you in for free (obviously you have to visit enough places to justify the membership ...)
It can´t be real. There aren´t any druids or hippies around it :-D .

I reckon English Heritage run it at a profit to finance the places of theirs that you can still go around for free - fleece the foreign tourists who want to see the famous Stonehenge, so the locals can still go and see some of the small, unsung, nuggets that EH own :)
Where are the druids? The virgins?
That's some serious historical reenactment! :)
There is also a replica here in WA State, I plan to visit it for the first time next month. Best, Dean
